Aechmea Tayoensis (aka Bromeliaceae)

  • Location:

A very rare bromeliad from Ecuador
  • Looks:

I have compact and broad, mid green foliage, with a muted red, spiky rosette shaped flower.
  • Height:

I can grow up to about 60cm, but as a house plant will stay more compact.
  • Environment:

I like indirect sunlight and shade.
  • Flowers:

I have a muted red flower that produces yellow mini flowers within it.
  • Grooming:

I need very little; remove any faded or tatty fronds. Try not to touch my leaves as they are growing though.
  • Life Span:

My flower will last a long time, but cut it off when it browns.
  • Feeding:

I like my soil to be moist but well drained.
  • Fact:

If grown in too much light my foliage will develop a reddish brown colour.
