Black Velvet Alocasia
(aka Alocasia reginula)
Location:
I originate in Southeast Asia, and I probably come from the jungles of Borneo.
Looks:
I have luscious black, velvety leaves with deep, light green veining.
Height:
I am a compact variety and will not grow above 35cm tall.
Environment:
I like bright light but keep me out of the sun.
Flowers:
With leaves like this, who needs flowers!
Grooming:
Trim off straggly leaves, I should not need much pruning.
Life Span:
I can live a long time in the right conditions.
Feeding:
Let my soil dry out completely before watering. I will not cope with sitting in wet soil. A well draining compost is essential.
Fact:
There are 79 species of Alocasia growing in the wild.
