Blue Hair Grass (aka Koeleria glauca ‘Coolio’)

  • Location:

I am native to central Europe and eastward into parts of Siberia.
  • Looks:

I form a low mound of very fine blue-green leaves with a hedgehog appearance.
  • Height:

My height and spread is 10-12"
  • Environment:

I like full sun and a moist, well draining soil.
  • Flowers:

Taller stems of greenish flowers develop into tan seed heads by midsummer.
  • Grooming:

Prune me back in early spring if desired, and remove flower spikes in late summer to tidy up the clumps.
  • Life Span:

I am an easy care plant, with a medium growth rate.
  • Feeding:

I endure best if planted in a nutrient poor, gritty, well-draining soil.
  • Fact:

I work well in a rockery.
