I have pale green, thorny leaves on a stout trunk.
In the right climate outside I can grow to 2-3m high
Six to eight hours of direct sun is best for me. I will grow well in normal room temperatures and I'm tolerant of dry air. To encourage flowering, however, it is best to give me a short winter rest at a temperature of no more that 10°C (50°F).
In perfect conditions, normally in the wild, I will produce bright red and orange red hot poker-like flowers which can last for several months.
I will not need much grooming
I will live a long time with the correct care.
Water me when my soil is dry to 2" below the surface. Make sure I am not sitting in water.
I should be moved into one size larger pot every spring.
