House Plant

Calathea Amagris (aka Ctenanthe oppenheimiana ‘Amagris’)

  • Location:

I am native to South Eastern Brazil.
  • Looks:

I have beautiful grey-green rubbery leaves, with a striking fishbone pattern. The undersides of my leaves are a deep purple.
  • Height:

I will only reach about 30cm high but I can spread much wider.
  • Environment:

I like dappled light, and humid conditions. Don't let my soil become waterlogged and mist me occasionally.
  • Flowers:

I will flower intermittently during the year in ideal growing conditions.
  • Grooming:

Trim off spent flower stalks and shabby leaves.
  • Life Span:

I am a long lasting and vigorous plant.
  • Feeding:

Give me a foliage fertiliser about once a month during the Spring and Summer months.
  • Fact:

I am a chance mutation of Ctenanthe burle-marxii, cultivated in a Belgium tissue culture laboratory.
