House Plant

Red Chestnut (aka Vriesea Fosteriana)

  • Location:

I am from the Bromeliad family and native to southern and central America
  • Looks:

I have beautiful horizontally striped leaves that grow from a central stem
  • Height:

I grow slowly and can eventually reach around 30cm in height
  • Environment:

I like bright light, but indirect light. Too little light will fade the pattern on my leaves
  • Flowers:

I do flower, however people love me more for my bold patterned leaves
  • Grooming:

I am low maintenance and won't need much grooming
  • Life Span:

I will last a long time, and if I do start to fade I will produce pups that you can plant out to continue my legacy
  • Feeding:

Feed me once a month during April- October, using an acidic fertiliser
  • Fact:

I am an epiphyte this means I can grow on other trees and plants
